Assessment Report

Family historians often encounter problems that are not covered by a guidebook or an Internet site. Given each ancestry search has its own characteristics and uniqueness, it is not possible to produce a ready-made Assessment Report, which will cater for all genealogies. Most commercial sites dealing with Irish genealogy require some level of familiarity with Ireland its history, habits and geography. Unfortunately most people commencing the adventure in tracing their Irish ancestry simply do not have this knowledge.

Genealogy Ireland’s Feargal O’Donnell carries out all Assessment Reports. Feargal has been involved in Irish genealogy for over 20 years and has managed Irish World, Heritage World and Armagh Ancestry family history centres and is now using his vast experience and wealth of knowledge in Irish genealogy to provide this service to Genealogy Ireland customers. Feargal is currently Vice-Chairman of the Irish Family History Foundation. Feargal has lectured widely on genealogy in the United States, Ireland and UK. Feargal has delivered workshops and training to many groups and individuals in Ireland.

Assessment Reports are designed to highlight the potential there is for a successful in-depth genealogical report and are designed to show clients the feasibility of further research in to their Irish ancestry. The degree to which research is successful is determined by the extent of available records. On the basis of preliminary assessment, you can then decide whether or not to proceed with a full family search. An Assessment Report costs £40 GBP and completion time is approximately 3 weeks.
